Hi, I'm Karen (:

I love food, acoustics, and cheesy stuff.

Well to be honest, this day wasn’t a bad day after all.. It was just the closest I can think of.

So it was around August.. Summer. My mom went home to the Philippines, and we brought her to the airport. It was me and my brothers, of course with Pablo who’s never missing in action, and Gunnar. We slept in a hotel then dropped my mom off in the airport the next day. Then on our way back, we plan to go to a beach in San Diego. We were already in La Jolla.. But there wasn’t any parking, so we just decided to head to Solana Beach instead. So on our way there, we were in an intersection.. And as we were crossing the intersection, the car coming from our left did not stop, though she did have a stop.. We all seriously saw her coming. But we all panicked. And Matt, who is driving just stepped on the gas, instead of the brakes, while screaming “WAAAAAHHH”. Then we crashed. Everyone is just like “FACK”.  Then everyone laughed.

HAHAHAH. It was pretty funny. Though the rear-side of the van was really wrecked, we were still thankful that no one got hurt at all. The van was not drive-able after the crash, so that’s where all the hassel came in. The woman who crashed to us, was rather a nice lady who is already wearing a neck brace, because she got in an accident a week before, and not to mention that she also just fell down from the stairs. She actually treated us really well. After settling the matters with our car insurances, she brought us to a really fancy hotel, (I guess she’s loaded since her husband is a lawyer), and treated us expensive dinner. She’s a Christian, and she talked about her family, religion, and she was very very nice to us. We were really lucky that it was a nice lady that we got in a crash with.

I guess the hard part is just settling matters with the insurance. I was the eldest at that time, and my parents were both in the Philippines so I had to take care of things. My aunt and uncle from OC had to drive us home to the Valley, and I felt so embarrass to be an inconvenience to them, but they were cool with it. Uhm, and the hardest part was.. telling our parents. Oh they’ll be so furious. But I had to do the honors, and yeah, of course, we were pretty much grounded the whole summer. But it was a really unforgettable experience. Up till now, me and my friend Pablo still joke about “getting our necks checked”, and some stuff from the accident. Hahaha.

Like I guess what they say, “There are no bad days, some days are just better than the others”.
